Malcolm X over NY Times

Website, 2020

In Malcolm X’s May 5, 1962 speech, "Who taught you to hate yourself?”, he proclaimed that the Black woman is the most disrespected person in America. What would it mean to expose this truth over the NY Times archive during the decade in which he was most active? The juxtaposition of an audio that cannot be seen/paused/stopped, and keeps looping, with a cycle of articles evokes a very "in your face" experience for the user.

This web experience was created with the NY Times Developer’s API. You can watch Malcolm X’s speech here.
